Bitcoin Reclaims $64K As Vance Moves To Hold US-Iran Talks In Switzerland

Bitcoin bounced back above the $64,000 mark on Saturday after a week of doubt over the next round of talks with Iran. The rebound came as U.S. Vice President JD Vance is moving to hold US-Iran talks as investors waited for news on the bilateral negotiations.

Bitcoin Rebounds Amid Renewal of US-Iran Deal Talks

The turnaround in the crypto industry occurred just as Vance said he plans to visit Switzerland soon. There, he is expected to hold discussions on peace deal with Tehran. At press time, Bitcoin price traded at $64,107.12, up 1.63% on Saturday, June 20.

“I expect that I will leave sometime the next couple of days” to meet with U.S. negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in Switzerland, Vance said in an interview with Fox News. Kushner and Witkoff were “on the ground” in the country for several hours, he added.

Vance said arrangements are being made with regional partners for the discussions. He said “I’m trying to be respectful,” as Qatar and Pakistan are working to ensure that the negotiations are conducted appropriately.

The comments came as a contrast to reports earlier in the week that talks were stalled. While the negotiations on Friday were postponed, several U.S. news outlets reported that Witkoff had left for Switzerland.

According to Axios, citing an unnamed U.S. official, the talks aimed to revive earlier peace efforts with Tehran, which included technical talks, and Witkoff was heading to the European nation with Washington. CNN also reported that the Trump administration’s representative was en route to Switzerland as follow-up talks were worked to “back on track.”

Other US Officials To Join In

Jared Kushner also was expected to join the talks. He was expected to be in Switzerland, according to CNN quoting a U.S. official. Further, Axios reported that he was already there to lead US-Iran negotiations.

It remains unclear whether there would be a face-off between Witkoff and Iranian representatives during the visit. Also, Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz again increased the uncertainty.

The talks were supposed to continue an agreement for a resolution of the Middle East conflict which began on February 28. At the time, U.S.-Israeli launched strikes, which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

However, there’s no new date set for the next phase of the US-Iran deal.
