UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday hailed the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement as a historic achievement, declaring it a clear signal that “Britain is now open for business.”
Speaking alongside PM Modi during the latter’s official visit to London, Starmer said the long-awaited trade deal marks a new chapter in bilateral ties, grounded in shared history and mutual economic benefit.
“The UK has been negotiating a deal like this for many years — but it’s this government that has delivered it,” Starmer told reporters. “We have unique bonds of history, of family. We want to strengthen our relationship further.”
