Operation Aaghat 3.0: Delhi Police launch all-out sweep, arrest 285, seize arms and drugs before New Year
The district-wide operation also saw 504 people apprehended under preventive action, while 116 listed ‘bad characters’ were taken into custody. Police further arrested 10 property offenders and five auto-lifters during the crackdown.
Providing details of the operation, Hemant Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East), said the drive was aimed at maintaining law and order and deterring criminal activity ahead of the festive season.
“Two hundred and eighty-five accused have been arrested under the Excise Act, NDPS Act and Gambling Act. A total of 504 persons were apprehended under preventive action, while 116 bad characters were also apprehended,” Tiwari said.
Arms, liquor, drugs seized
During the course of the operation, police recovered 21 country-made pistols, 20 live cartridges and 27 knives. Authorities also seized 12,258 quarters of illicit liquor and 6.01 kg of ganja. In gambling-related cases, cash amounting to ₹2.30 lakh was recovered.
The drive also led to the recovery of 310 mobile phones reported as snatched, robbed or lost, and the seizure or recovery of 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler. Overall, 1,306 people were rounded up under preventive measures as part of the exercise, according to ANI. Operation Aaghat 3.0 is part of Delhi Police’s intensified enforcement and preventive measures as the city gears up for New Year celebrations.
