Shah Rukh Khan replies in trademark style
Known for his wit, Shah Rukh responded in a light-hearted manner. He wrote on social media, “Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor… Would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian… ha ha.” His fans widely shared the post and appreciated the friendly exchange.
Reacting to the recognition, Khan posted a video message. He said, “Namaskar and Adab. Needless to say I’m overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. To be honoured with the National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime.”
He also added, “Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman and to the INB ministry and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour.”

In his acceptance remarks, Khan acknowledged the support of fans, the film crew, and his family. He said, “This award is for you, as each award is. And yeah, I would love to spread my arms for you and share my love, but I’m a bit indisposed. But don’t worry, just keep the popcorn ready. I’ll be back in theaters and soon on the screen. So till then, just with one hand. Ready!”
He also shared a message on social media that read, “Thank you for honouring me with the National Award. Thanks to the jury, the I&B ministry… Iss samman ke liye Bharat Sarkar ka dhanyawaad. Overwhelmed with the love showered upon me. Half a hug to everyone today.”
Other winners at the 71st National Film Awards
Khan shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who was recognised for his performance in ‘12th Fail’. Rani Mukerji was awarded Best Actress for ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’. Sudipto Sen won Best Director for ‘The Kerala Story’. The award for Best Hindi Film went to ‘Kathal’, starring Sanya Malhotra.
What’s next for Shah Rukh Khan
Khan will next be seen in the film ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand. The movie also features his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. Reports suggest Deepika Padukone may also be part of the cast, although this has not been confirmed officially.
