Govt aims to make ‘chips to ships’ in country, PM Modi reiterates Make in India plans

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reiterated government’s focus on domestic production during his visit to inaugurate Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 in Noida.

“Government is focusing on Make In India, aims to make ‘chips to ships‘ in country,” Modi said.

On the 11th anniversary of ‘Make in India’, he said that government is developing a “vibrant defence sector“, creating an ecosystem where every component bears the mark of ‘Made in India.’
He added that Indian defence forces want ‘swadeshi’ and decrease the dependence on other countries. “We are building such ecosystem where every part of our weapons has ‘Made in India’ inscribed on them.”

The government is also about to commence the production of AK-203 rifles in Uttar Pradesh facility setup in collaboration with Russia. “A defence corridor is also being set up in Uttar Pradesh,” Modi announced.
