The line was a nod to the long-running chatter on social media about Samson waiting years for consistent chances in the Indian team.

Samson started the tournament on the bench but found his place in the playing XI after India decided to split their left-heavy top order. Once in, he turned the tournament into his own stage.

In the final against New Zealand, Samson smashed 89 off 46 balls, his third successive score above 80 in the tournament.
