After BJP workers targeted the Bihar PCC office in Patna and the Congress workers, party leader Rahul Gandhi said in a Hindi post on social media that “truth and non-violence prevail, untruth and violence can’t stand before them. Beat and break as much as you want, we will continue to protect the truth and the Constitution. Satyameva Jayate”.
Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, who reached the Patna office, said that no Congress worker would use derogatory language against the PM, and he sought a probe into the matter.
“An investigation should be conducted into who made this statement or whose statement it is. No person from the Congress would want derogatory words to be spoken against the prime minister or his family. This is not the culture of the Congress,” Singh said.
AICC general secretary KC Venugopal alleged on social media that the incident was the handiwork of the BJP. “Baffled by the soaring popularity of the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra‘ and the groundswell of public sentiment against them, the BJP has once again unleashed its hooligans to intimidate and scare us,” Venugopal said. “The attack on our Bihar PCC Office Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, led by a sitting cabinet minister and other BJP leaders, is an act of cowardice and will not deter us from continuing to expose the massive ‘vote chori’ being carried out in the name of SIR… Bihar Police must take strict and exemplary action against the perpetrators of this crime.”
