Apple officially announced the MacBook Neo today, a new entry-level laptop segment starting at ₹69,900 in India, aimed squarely at disrupting the budget Windows ecosystem. The device, which becomes available for pre-order immediately ahead of a March 11 release, introduces the A18 Pro silicon to the Mac lineup for the first time. Positioned significantly below the MacBook Air, the Neo combines a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a fanless design and a suite of “Apple Intelligence” features, marking the company’s most aggressive pricing move for a portable computer in over a decade.

The MacBook Neo starts at ₹69,900 for the base 256GB storage configuration. For those requiring more space, the 512GB model is priced at ₹79,900. To make the device more accessible, Apple is offering “No Cost EMI” plans starting from ₹11,150 per month, along with instant cashback offers for eligible bank cards. Pre-orders are currently live on the Apple Store Online, with the official launch and shipping scheduled for March 11, 2026. Students can benefit further from education pricing, which brings the effective starting cost down even more.

Under the hood, the MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. The 13-inch Liquid Retina display offers a resolution of 2408×1506 with 500 nits of brightness and an anti-reflective coating. How does the keyboard and Touch ID configuration work?

The MacBook Neo offers two distinct keyboard configurations based on the storage tier you select. The base 256GB model comes with a standard Magic Keyboard that features a dedicated Lock Key instead of biometric sensors. If you opt for the 512GB model, the laptop is upgraded to a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, allowing for seamless unlocking and secure Apple Pay transactions. Both versions feature color-matched keyboards that complement the laptop’s exterior, housed in a recycled aluminum enclosure weighing just 1.23 kg.

Moving away from the traditional space grey and starlight, the Neo is available in four expressive colours: Silver, Blush (light pink), Citrus (bright yellow), and Indigo (dark blue). These designs are fanless, ensuring completely silent operation even under load. In terms of endurance, Apple claims the Neo delivers up to 16 hours of video streaming or 11 hours of wireless web browsing on a single charge. It ships with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter and a matching 1.5-meter USB-C charging cable.
