The central trade unions and farmers’ organisations have called for a nationwide strike on Thursday, February 12 protesting the Centre’s ‘anti-worker, anti-farmer and pro-corporate policies. The Bharat Bandh is expected to disrupt normal life across states in Assam, Odisha which may be completely shut down. Punjab is also likely to see massive participation in the strike as the ruling political party AAP is supporting the bandh.

Which states are likely to see the impact?

The disruptions are expected across nearly 600 districts nationwide. While Odisha and Assam are likely to face the most intense shutdowns, Kerala and West Bengal are also expected to witness significant disruptions.

Bharat Bandh today: What remains open and closed?

India is bracing for a nationwide general strike today and the strike is expected to see wide participation from a wide spectrum of workers. The industrial labourers, public sector employee, farmers and informal sector workers are expected to support Bharat Bandh, reports The Indian Express.

While essential services are expected to function, disruptions are likely across several sectors.
